Join us for our next 6-week session which begins the week of November 6, 2023 which focuses on improving communication skills. We will cover the following topics:

Building Positive Connections:  This session focuses on the basics of building rapport through warm smiles, exploring eye contact, and the art of asking questions. Participants will learn the importance of these simple yet impactful gestures in initiating and sustaining meaningful conversations.

Discovering Common Bonds:  Discovering common interests and learning how to take turns in conversations are essential aspects of connecting with others. Participants will explore the joys of shared hobbies and interests while practicing patience and the skill of active listening.

Staying Engaged and Relevant:  In this session, we delve into the art of staying on topic while contributing meaningful comments to ongoing discussions. Participants will gain insights into the dynamics of group conversations and work on maintain focus while actively participating.

Non-Verbal Communication:  Facial expressions and gestures often speak louder than words. Through interactive exercises, participants will enhance their understanding of non-verbal cues, allowing them to communicate effectively and interpret emotions accurately.

Effective Initiations:  Initiating conversations can be daunting, but this session equips participants with the confidence and techniques needed to approach others with ease. Additionally, we'll explore the subtle yet powerful impact of touch and body language in social interactions.

Mastering Social Nuances:  Tone of voice, eye contact, and physical appearance play pivotal roles in successful communication. In our final session, participants will refine their skills, honing the nuances that contribute to compelling and engaging conversations.

Questions & Answers

Social Skills groups will be held at Ability Central WORKS! located at 2470 N. 11th Street, Beaumont, TX  77703. Groups are Monday-Thursday. There are 2 sessions each day at 3:45 and 4:45. Participants are grouped by age and the schedule set after the inital sign up period. 

Groups are geared for school-aged children and teenagers that need support aquiring and generalizing social skills. 

This cost for the 6-week session is $200.
