About us
Our Mission
The mission of Ability Central Works is to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through productivity and purpose. Follow the link below to find out more about us.
Our Vocational Program
We take tasks and break them into manageable steps so that they can be completed as independently as possible by our team members. As we enjoy the journey, we ensure it is the journey itself that is meaningful, not just the outcome or destination. Every part that contributes to the final product is appreciated and necessary. The products that are made at ACW are truly a team effort from start to finish.
Our History
Amy Ten Napel, the founder of ACW, is a school psychologist and knows first-hand that after individuals with disabilities leave the public school system, opportunities for them to find purpose and belonging are scarce. Ability Central Works was founded in 2019, as a solution to that reality. Plans were delayed due to Covid and the uncertainty of that time, but in 2021, we began a pilot prevocational day program for adults with disabilities. We stepped out on faith and opened our doors in a Beaumont business park, building our program from 3 days per week to 5 days per week and adding participants (which we call team members) through word-of-mouth. Ability Central Works moved to their current home at 2470 N. 11th St in the fall of 2022. This location sits on an acre of land and has afford the opportunity to add horticulture to our programming and other outdoor recreational activities. Ability Central Works is a private, non-government-funded organization.
